Tumshie, The Village Storytelling Festival, CCA Glasgow and online (2022)

Tumshie is, at it's core, a palimpsest that reclaims the words from the Grimm Brothers 1812 retelling of Rapunzel to create poetry and moving collage that defies the narrow, male narrative of this well known fairy-tale. This act of defiance places the story back in the hands of its intended tellers and reconnects the story with its original purpose: to instruct us on how to survive the patriarchy.

The experimental short film uses sculpture, 2D animation, performance to camera and creative
writing as tools to examine the historical role of patriarchal power while placing its findings firmly into contemporary British society.
